Here’s how to get your New Year’s resolutions back on track

We’ve made it to the end of February, a crucial time in the year when it comes to sticking to resolutions set on January 1.

If you’ve failed to stick to your goals, experts say it’s not too late and they’ve got a few suggestions to help get you back on track.

First, recognize what went wrong. Maybe you set a nearly impossible goal or too many goals and now you’re overwhelmed.

If that’s the case, focus on more sustainable and realistic goals to better manage expectations.

Next, course-correct or change course altogether.

Changing your focus could be just what you need to get in alignment with your goals. For example, maybe you realized that getting better sleep is more important than your resolution to lose weight.

And lastly, track your progress. You can use an app to track your workouts or food intake. You can also write out your progress in a journal.

All of these steps could help you see the big picture of your journey to set you up to achieve your resolution.

San Antonio pup finds forever home after 384 days in shelter

After being with San Antonio Pets Alive for 384 days, one lucky pup has found her forever home.

Fauna, along with her seven puppies, were surrendered to the shelter by their owner in January 2021, according to SAPA officials. All of Fauna’s puppies were adopted quickly but Fauna did not have the same luck.

SAPA officials said they had a difficult time finding someone to adopt Fauna or even foster her.

Fauna stayed at the SAPA Medical Care Center, where she met Cyanna, Jeremiah, and their dog.

Cyanna and Jeremiah worked with Fauna for months along with another foster, who is also a dog trainer, officials said. From there, Fauna warmed up to the trio, and they quickly fell in love.

Cyanna and Jeremiah adopted Fauna, and she’s now with her fur-ever family.

“We never lost hope in Fauna, and we knew that the perfect family was out there. Happy Tails to Fauna and her new family!” SAPA officials said.

San Antonio firefighters battle 2-alarm structure fire in downtown

San Antonio firefighters responded to a 2-alarm fire in a downtown building late Wednesday night.

The fire was called in around 11 p.m. in the 500 block of Urban Loop, not far from Interstate 10 and near the University of Texas at San Antonio downtown campus.

Firefighters said they arrived to find the unoccupied, historical building with heavy smoke and fire. They believe it was caused by homeless in the area since there are no utilities going into the building.

Fire officials said they did an initial search and found no one inside. They had to pull out firefighters and battle the flames defensively due to potential dangers. The backside of the building has since continued to burn and collapse, firefighters said.

According to the San Antonio Fire Department website, as many as 31 units answered the call.

A fire investigation team will work to determine the exact cause. A damage estimate was not given.
