Motorcyclist fatally struck while riding on Highway 281 on North Side; lanes closed

A motorcyclist was killed on Saturday morning when his bike was hit from behind by an SUV, according to San Antonio police.

The accident happened at 5:30 a.m. on Highway 281 North and Bitters Road.

Police said the man on the motorcycle was traveling northbound when an SUV came up from behind him and hit the bike.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. His name and age were not released by SAPD.

The female driver of the SUV told police that it appeared the motorcyclist slowed down or was stalled in the middle of the highway, according to SAPD. She did not appear to be intoxicated, and at this point, she is not facing any charges, police said.

As of 9:20 a.m., the northbound lanes are closed as investigators process the scene.
